Saquon Barkley and his family were all smiles yesterday after the Philadelphia Eagles secured their spot in the 2025 Super Bowl, and — per usual — Barkley and his daughter were seen grinning well before kick-off. Ahead of most games, the running back can be spotted on the sidelines doing his adorable secret handshake with his daughter. Well … “secret” handshake. Their pregame ritual has been caught on tape and the footage is too cute!
In the video, Barkley and his 6-year-old daughter Jada — who he shares with girlfriend Anna Congdon along with 2-year-old son Saquon Jr. (AKA S.J.) — meet on the sidelines to greet each other. The handshake starts with lightly tapping each other’s hands back and forth before they kiss each other on each cheek and then throw up a peace sign. It’s so simple and endearing, and we hope to see it again before the Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl next month. (Watch the video HERE.)
Fans were so touched by their tradition:
“Most wholesome thing we’ve seen today 🥹,” one person commented on the Instagram video.
“So cute‼️💚🏈,” another added.
Barkley, Congdon, and his kids were seen celebrating after the Eagles’ big win on Sunday. Barkley held Jada on his hip, and Congdon held S.J. on hers as green and white confetti rained down around them.
In 2019, Barkley told NJ Advance Media that he ultimately plays football for Jada.
“Obviously I do it for myself because I love the game, I love competing and I want to go down as one of the best [in NFL history], but I go out there and sacrifice my body every single day for my daughter,” he said.
“She is my world. I’m going to give her the world,” the former Giants player continued. “I’m going to make sure she never has any worries in life, but I’m also going to show her that you have to work for everything in your life. I want to be the best role model and father I can be in her life.”
We have to imagine all that love, care, and determination now applies to little S.J. too. Even if the toddler doesn’t have his own secret handshake. (Yet?!)
