Welcome to the Year of the Snake! The Lunar New Year officially kicked off on Wednesday night, and Olivia Munn’s baby Méi is celebrating for the first time. The 4-month-old looked adorable in her fiery red ‘fit in a new video, and our hearts are a puddle of mush looking at her!
“Happy Lunar New Year! ❤️🧧🐍恭喜发财 Gōngxǐ fācái / Chúc mừng năm mới 💫🏮,” Munn, who shares Méi with John Mulaney, captioned a video on Instagram. (According to Google Translate, this means “May you be happy and prosperous” in Chinese, and “Happy New Year” in Vietnamese.)
Munn is dressed in all white in the video, as she holds her baby up in front of their fireplace. Méi is wearing a traditional Chinese outfit in a fiery red. This bold color is associated with good fortune and prosperity, per PBS, and many families give out red envelopes with money to younger members of the family to celebrate this special holiday. Many families also burn firecrackers to mark the new year, which traditionally helps ward off monsters.
In the video, the chunky baby looks utterly bewildered as she looks around the room with cameras flashing. Then she turns to her mom as she speaks to her in Vietnamese. Baby Méi is too darn cute, and we just want to squish her little cheeks.
She continued in the caption, “Last year brought us our little baby dragon. We’re ready and excited for the Year of the Snake.”
Paris Hilton commented, “😍.”
“sweetest ever! I adore her outfit 🥹 happy Lunar New Year! ❤️sending you guys e-red envelopes 🧧🧧🧧🧧🤣,” someone else wrote. Another wrote, “She’s the perfect example of health and happiness for the new year!! ❤️🧧🙌”
The Hit-Monkey star and welcomed baby Méi via surrogate in September, revealing that her first name means “plum” in Chinese. “Méi June Mulaney came into the world September 14, 2024, the year of the dragon🐉,” Munn wrote on Instagram, sharing the first pictures of her family of four, including 3-year-old son Malcolm.
“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” the breast cancer survivor continued. “When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”
She added, “I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon for making the journey to be with us. My heart has exploded.”
