Rumer Willis doesn’t care what you think, especially when it comes to parenting her daughter Louetta “Lou” Isley, 21 months. Ever since becoming a mom nearly 2 years ago, she has been sharing raw, unflinching looks at both the beauty and the pain of motherhood — and we love her so much for it! In her latest post, she highlights one of the more private (and kinda gross!) part of being a mom, and unsurprisingly, the comments are completely unhinged.
In a new video on Instagram to promote Plant Paper toilet paper, Willis breastfeeds her toddler while sitting on the toilet. If you haven’t been a breastfeeding mom, I can assure you this is 100 percent normal. What are you supposed to do if nature calls at the same time your baby is screaming to be bed? Still, most moms aren’t brave enough to record a video of themselves doing it!
Lou looks adorable in a blue denim jumpsuit and white-and-purple sneakers, with her blonde hair up in a half ponytail as she nurses from her mom and plays with Willis’s long necklace. The My Divorce Party star is embracing the cottagecore trend in a creamy lace top (that unbuttons for easy access) and a long white skirt. As she talks about “forever chemicals” found in many mainstream toilet manufacturers, Lou just continues drinking and resting on her mom’s lap, not minding the fact that Willis is seemingly using the restroom at the same time. This is probably just an everyday occurrence for her, after all!
The comments were basically as wide-ranging in opinions as you might expect for a video like this. Like one person, who said, “Breastfeeding on the sh*tter 😩” and another, who wrote, “Isn’t it time to give her a sippy cup good lord.” (Last time I checked, toddlers can drink from a sippy cup and continue to breastfeed, Karen!)
“Omg! Get a grip and stop breastfeeding your child on the toilet! That’s disgusting,” another mom-shamer wrote. *sigh.* It’s not like moms necessarily want to breastfeed on the toilet, but have you tried going to the bathroom with kids around? They don’t exactly want to leave you alone!
Some people complained more about the price of the Plant Paper toilet paper, which is $68 for 32 rolls. “Send me a free case if you’re soooo worried about me gurl … cuz nobody got that kinda money for TP 🤦🏻♀️😭,” someone said.
Still, others kept it more light-hearted. Like this person, who praised, “Yooou poooooop! 🙌🏼 Great message!” Someone else quipped, “Hey, I don’t care about her sitting on a toilet breast-feeding, but I do care that she put her purse on the dirty bathroom floor😂”
And some moms just went straight to praise (you love to see it!). “This is so sweet. Every mother has been there,” one person said. So true! Someone else said, “The visual of this is 🔥 #normalizebreastfeeding.”
Vanessa Hudgens commented as well, writing, “Okay mother goddess.”
In an interview with PEOPLE in May, Willis shared the goals she has to raise her daughter with confidence. “I want her to feel so confident in herself and be able to always trust and know on such a deep level the value of who she is, that she never feels like she has to compromise herself no matter who she’s in front of,” Willis said.
“Whether that’s a guy that she’s dating one day or a girl, whoever she ends up wanting to date,” Willis continued. “If I’m saying something and giving her advice and she doesn’t agree with it, I want her to have enough confidence and trust within herself to disagree with me and to not be afraid of me. I want her to trust her voice.”
Feeding little ones isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey, and these celebrity moms are advocating for extended breastfeeding.
