Boy Mom Zoe Saldana Said Which One of Her Sons Is Her ‘Toughest Critic’ in Her Critics Choice Awards Speech

Boy mom Zoe Saldana won the Critics Choice Award for best supporting actress, for her role in Emilia Perez. And during her speech, she gave rare details about her sons, including which one is her “toughest” critic. (Hint: it’s all of them!)

During her acceptance speech on Feb 7, held at the Barker Hanger in Los Angeles, she shouted out her family. “…Thank you to my family, especially my incredible husband and my nephew, who is with me tonight. You made me, me. So thank you, and to my boys, my greatest adventure and my toughest critics. I love you. My wish for the impact of this film on audiences in our world is that I hope we can all be curious and open hearted towards each other, because you never know when you’ll have the opportunity to be a hero, and someone else’s story….,” she said via People.

“My greatest adventure and my toughest critics:” Doesn’t that just perfectly encapsulate motherhood? And it’s so sweet to hear about the Oscar nominees’ life as a mom of three. We’re sure they were celebrating big time when they got home to the kids!

For those who don’t know, Saldaña and her husband Marco Perego share three sons together: twins Cy and Bowie, born in Nov 2014, and Zen, born in Dec 2016.

In an interview with SheKnows for the 2023 Holiday Issue, Saldaña talked about the quality time she spends with her and Perego’s children; and how dancing isn’t the only hobby the boys love doing together.

“When it comes to rituals and interactions that we can do together, I will do it,” she said. “It gives us the opportunity to play these games with them … you know, interact, as opposed to just granting them this time and monitoring it. We’re right in the trenches with them playing the game, and it’s become a family event for us.”
