Helena Christensen just gave fans a super-rare glimpse into her longtime home, including at the sweet way she honors her son Mingus.
In a recent home tour with The Sunday Times, Christensen showed her maximalist West Village home, and she herself called it “a little exhibition, where I have been given the honour of taking care of work created in the past.”
Throughout her home are books, artwork, fashionable staples in unexpected places, and a little spot where she honors her son. In fact, journalist Hannah Marriott wrote in the interview, “It is nestled on a gallery wall, along with other photographs she loves such as black-and-white Polaroids she took of her son, Mingus, now 25, as a young child.”
Christensen even revealed that the home has barely changed since she and Mingus moved in back in 2000, except that she obviously doesn’t baby proof anymore. She said, “Objects come in and some may go but it has stayed more or less the same. I think my life has always been so hectic that it’s nice to have the stillness within the four walls.”
For those who don’t know, Christensen shares a son named Mingus, born in 1999, with her ex, Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus.
In a previous interview with L’Officiel, Christensen talked about her relationship with her son. She said, “My son means many things to me. You can teach your children a lot as they grow, but suddenly that dynamic changes and the next thing that happens is that you listen to them and you see yourself through their eyes, and that is a really incredible experience.”
