Colin Firth has always been one of our favorite actors, but he’s as private as a star can get. However, his ex-wife Livia Giuggioli Firth just shed a super-rare light on what kind of father he is, and how their co-parenting relationship is. (Hint: it’s all so good, and it’s all so sweet!)
In a super-rare interview with The Sunday Times, Livia spoke about her life away from the spotlight, her sustainable life, and how co-parenting has gone with her ex Colin.
Now, in the interview, she revealed that all spent Christmas together in Italy, including their sons, whom she called “really, really good boys, a fantastic mix of English and Italian.”
While Colin and Livia’s sons are clearly wonderful men, many wonder how her and Colin’s relationship is as they navigate co-parenting adults.
Livia revealed that they’re “very, very close friends,” and sayd their relationship “very healthy.” She added that she’s “incredibly proud of [it]. We’re very, very close. We love each other.”
For those who don’t know, Livia and Colin married in 1997 after meeting on the set of the BBC miniseries Nostromo the year prior. They were together until 2019, when they separated. And in 2021, their divorce was finalized. During their marriage, they welcomed two sons named Luca, born in March 2001, and Matteo, born in Aug 2003. (Colin also has a son named William, born in 1990, with his ex-girlfriend, Meg Tilly!)
Along with his three sons, his ex Tilly revealed that he’s also been very present for her two other children, Emily and David.
“We just cheer him on. We’re so proud of him. He’s a wonderful actor and he’s a wonderful man. He’s been a good father to Will, his son, but he’s also stayed very present in my other two children’s lives, Emily and David. He’s showed up for graduations, births of babies. He’s a sweetheart,” she said to People.
