NO! NO. No, this is not a pregnancy announcement ( … that we know of), but it is some really sweet family planning news. A$AP Rocky is already thinking about what he would name a future child if he and Rihanna welcomed a third, and his latest legal win gave him inspiration for the baby’s name.
ICYMI: The rapper was on trial for assault with a semiautomatic firearm and could have faced a prison sentence of about 24 years, per Forbes. After the jury found him not guilty, A$AP Rocky reportedly wanted to honor his lawyer Joe Tacopina in the ultimate way.
“Rihanna and Rocky said to me in the courtroom … they grabbed me and they said, ‘Listen, our next baby is A$AP Joe,'” Tacopina said in an interview with Extra. The lawyer then quipped that he would hold the power couple to that.
A$AP Rocky and the “Diamonds” singer share two sons — RZA, 2 and Riot, 1 — who were both at the courthouse last week when it was believed that the jury would start deliberations. “If [he was found guilty], that would be the last time [A$AP Rocky] saw his children,” Tacopina said. “So [Rihanna] wanted them in the court.”
That was not the first time Tacopina met RZA and Riot. In fact, the lawyer seems to have a sweet relationship with his client’s kids. The day before Rihanna did the Super Bowl halftime performance in 2023 (and famously announced her pregnancy with Riot!), Tacopina ended up “accidentally babysitting” RZA.
The soon-to-be parents of two invited Tacopina to join them for dinner, and then Rihanna had to leave to start preparations for her big performance.
“Then all of a sudden Rocky said, ‘Can you just hold the baby for a minute, I’m getting a pedicure,'” the lawyer shared. Tacopina proceeded to spend 90 minutes with baby RZA while A$AP Rocky had his toes tended to. (Can you imagine?!)
Alternatively, the “Praise the Lord” rapper “became close” to Tacopina’s son, fashion designer Joseph Davide, and “helped him out with his clothing line.”
“So there was a different type of relationship with him than with most clients,” Tacopina said with a laugh.
And now, naming a theoretical third baby after Tacopina would only drive that point home further. Up to this point, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have clearly had a thing for monikers that start with the letter R, but who could blame them for leaving that tradition behind and choosing a baby name that honors someone who has genuinely changed their lives?
