George Clooney Reveals How Dad Life Has Been Changed by His Broadway Debut

That’s right, George Clooney just stepped on a Broadway stage for the first time (Uhh … how is that possible?), and the famed actor is reveling in all the perks of the theater. During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the Ocean’s Eleven star talked about his role in Good Night, and Good Luck, a play he co-wrote based on the 2005 film that he also co-wrote ( … and directed … and started in) by the same name.

Sure, he’s “petrified” by this debut, but it also has some major perks.

“Actually, a play is kind of a good schedule because, you know, you’re working at night, you get to see the kids during the day, so it’s ok,” Clooney said of his 7-year-old twins Alexander and Ella who he shares with wife Amal Clooney.

Aww! How sweet is that? He may be taking to the stage for eight shows a week, but the Oscar winner is soaking up all the time he gets with his kids. It’s certainly different from the all-consuming schedule of filming a movie.

Plus, the kiddos have joined their dad during this New York City stint (leaving behind their European home(s) for now), and it seems to be going well.

“They love New York,” George said, per Hello! “Amal went to NYU so she’s been here many times.”

He then jokingly added that Ella and Alexander did not go to New York University. “They’re smart kids, but not quite…,” he quipped.

And despite their father’s teasing, we have no doubt the twins could go to NYU in the future. After all, the twins already speak three languages and are clearly quick learners. Having lived in the French countryside, the twins picked up French, and Clooney admitted in 2022 that he made a “terrible mistake” by having them learn Italian.

“But [Amal and I] don’t speak Italian,” he said. “So, we’ve armed them with a language that they can harm us with, and we don’t really know what they’re saying.”

Right now, we bet they’re saying “Bravo!” to their dad on his latest accomplishment. (Or, “Hey, we can totally get into NYU!” in annoyed Italian.)
