How the Oscars Outcome Could Affect Kieran Culkin’s Family Planning

Kieran Culkin has a big weekend ahead of him. And not just because he is nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in A Real Pain. But because the outcome of the Academy Awards could have big implications on his family planning.

The actor shares two kids with his wife Jazz Charton, and apparently he’s really hoping for some more. In fact, based on his 2024 Emmys acceptance speech for his role in Succession, it sounded like he has been pleading to expand the family.

“You said maybe if I win,” he cheekily said to Charton, per Today.

As in … if he wins an Emmy, they will try for more kids?! He has since won multiple awards — including a Golden Globe! — for A Real Pain. And if he wins an Oscar, will that reopen the family planning discussion? Perhaps … !

Culkin and Charton are currently mom and dad to a 5-year-old daughter Kinsey Sioux, and a 3-year-old son Wilder Wolf. Or, as he lovingly calls them, “Zissou” and “Buba.”

If the couple does decide to welcome more kids — because of an Oscar win or otherwise — we have an idea of what Charton’s birth plan will look like. After laboring for 25 hours at home with Kinsey, Charton and Culkin changed their course.

“We arrived at the hospital too late for any pain meds as I was already dilated and ready to push (if I ever do this again I want ALL THE DRUGS, all of them!) and she was out within the hour during a full moon on Friday the 13th,” Charton said in her birth announcement, per People. “I’ve never been more in love and we’ve never felt more complete.”

When Wilder was born two years later, Charton captioned his birth announcement, “One month with our perfect little man … #gettheepidural.”

In a 2024 interview with the New York Times, Culkin spoke about meeting his epidural-getting wife and his love for his family.

“I took a shot at the most beautiful and charismatic person I’ve ever known and she said yes to a date with me,” he said. “Now I’m married to her, so I aimed pretty high there and I ended up with my best friend and a great person.”

And then he and his best friend built a family together. “I have two beautiful kids and I want to be the best dad ever, so I work really hard at that.”

These celebrity parents and children have both been nominated for Oscars.
