Rachel McAdams Opens Up About Being a New Mom — but Don’t Expect a Lot of Juicy Details

Unlike many of her fellow celebrities, Rachel McAdams doesn’t have any social media accounts and strives to keep her personal life as private as possible. Case in point: Seven months after her son’s birth, the actor is finally opening up about being a new mom — but she’s staying mum on her baby’s birthdate and name.

“I want to keep his life private, even if mine isn’t,” McAdams told The Sunday Times U.K. But one thing McAdams is open about is how much she loves being a mom. “I’m having more fun being a mum than I’ve ever had. Everything about it is interesting and exciting and inspiring to me. Even the tough days — there’s something delightful about them,” she told the outlet.

In a move that will resonate with new moms everywhere, McAdams is also celebrating the small victories — like, for example, getting dressed for her interview. “I have clothes on and that’s a good thing,” she said. But in a totally relatable move, she admitted she wasn’t quite sure what she was wearing. “I don’t even know what I’m wearing today. The shoes are held together with glue,” she admitted. And just when I thought I couldn’t love McAdams anymore than I already do, her candid comments proved me wrong.

McAdams added that motherhood is the best thing that’s ever happened to her. “[Some people say] your life is not your own anymore. But I had 39 years of me, I was sick of me, I was so happy to put the focus on some other person,” she explained. The actor added that she and her screenwriter boyfriend, Jamie Linden, never turn on the TV when their baby is around — and “[p]ots and pans are good babysitters.” (Relatable.)

We may not get a blow-by-blow of McAdams’ life as a mom on Instagram, but it’s totally understandable that she wants to keep this aspect of her life private.
