Hayden Panettiere & Ex Wladimir Klitschko Are Winning at Co-parenting

Nashville alum Hayden Panettiere and her ex-fiancé, pro boxer Wladimir Klitschko, split in August 2018 — but no worries: They’re co-parenting daughter Kaya, age 4, just fine, according to the actor.

Panettiere talked to Us Weekly on Thursday at the Sharkwater Extinction film premiere to say she and Klitschko get along and that co-parenting is going well.

The pair were linked romantically for 10 years. Before that, Panettiere was linked to Heroes costar and star of This Is Us Milo Ventimiglia.

Panettiere attended the premiere with her current beau, Brian Hickerson.

“We’re still respectful of each other, and we still have that friendship with each other,” she said of Klitschko. “It’s not a situation that you find yourself in all that often, so it’s a new one. But I think we’ve done a really good job.”

Kaya arrived on the scene in December 2014, a year after news broke of Klitschko and Panettiere’s secret engagement.Panettiere sought help for severe postpartum depression within a year of Kaya’s birth and once again in May of 2016. She’s spoken openly on social media about her struggle, once tweeting, “The postpartum depression I have been experiencing has impacted every aspect of my life. Rather than stay stuck due to unhealthy coping mechanisms I have chosen to take time to reflect holistically on my health and life. Wish me luck!”

Panettiere told Us that she and her ex are “trying to do the book smarts and the street smart.” She continued, “So, you know, trial and error as a parent. … We’re all going to make mistakes.”Sounds like the ex-couple’s respectful approach to co-parenting Kaya is going to minimize those mistakes for sure. Props to these two for making the co-parenting relationship work.
