We’re now into the thick of summer, and what with all that unstructured schools-out time kids have these days, there’s no shortage of opportunities for folks to judge other people’s parenting. From sunscreen to snack choices to safety, anyone looking for an opening to be critical will surely find one. But pop icon Pink, as usual, is having none of it.
In an Instagram post on Monday, the artist shared an iconic summer image: her two kids gleefully running through a sprinkler against a verdant outdoor backdrop. Deftly silencing her critics before they even had a chance to get a word in, Pink wrote, “Here’s a picture of my child running through water. It wasn’t even filtered. What a waste of water. And no helmet? I hope she had sunscreen.”

Pink turned off commenting on the post, likely in order to avoid exactly the sort of attention she’s making fun of in her caption — the sort of attention she got in April, when she posted a vacation pic of her son sans swim diaper, and the trolls jumped at the opportunity to comment on his genitalia. Pink clapped back, of course, adding sarcastically, “Here’s a picture of the pelican we obviously caught and abused for hours before dangling baby penis in its face.”

Pink hasn’t posted many images of her kids on social media since; in fact, she declared she was taking a break from it (because trolls). But while you can’t make out Pink’s daughter Willow’s face in the recent sprinkler photo, the singer did use her signature wit to make her anti-mom-shaming message loud and clear: “If she slips and falls she may be traumatized for life. And her mother wasn’t even there. I was….. gasp…. working!!!! In another country!” God forbid!
If you can find fault in such a carefree kid pic, the star seems to be saying, maybe the problem isn’t Pink’s parenting — maybe it’s you.
