Kim & Kourtney Kardashian Face Off Over North’s & Penelope’s Birthdays

We admit it: We love the high drama of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and Sunday’s episode was a delicious treat, with Kim and Kourtney facing off about a Candyland-themed birthday party for their daughters (North and Penelope, respectively).

Spoiler: The Candyland party did happen over the summer. But the planning was anything but sweet, it turns out.

Kourtney, a major health food fan, was reluctant to sugar up the celebration, despite the theme.

“It’s Candyland, Kourtney,” an exasperated Kim told her sister. “It’s not going to be healthy.”

Kourtney said later in the heated discussion. “There’s just better solutions to things. Instead of your dated candy… that’s like, literally food coloring that gives people diseases….”

“It’s Candyland, it’s not Gluten-Free Land,” Kim retorted at one point.
The sisters eventually sorted things out and co-hosted an interactive Candyland fantasy right in Kourtney’s backyard, as evidenced by June social media.

But at one point in Sunday’s episode it was revealed that the sisters were thiiiiis close to doing separate soirees for the girls.”I’m having my own party,” Kim stated, days before the event was supposed to happen, sparking controversy in the fam — especially among horrified Kris Jenner and Khloé Kardashian, both of whom were put in the middle and obviously did not wish to have to choose between attending North’s or Penelope’s separate parties.

“We’re not doing separate birthday parties,” said Khloé, appalled.

“Oh, yeah, we are,” Kim exclaimed. “The date is this Saturday at 2 o’clock. So, if you want to join the Candyland-themed party…”

Momager Jenner asked, “Is [Kourtney] also doing it Saturday at 2 o’clock?”

The KKW Beauty founder sassed back, “I don’t know what she’s doing. You can ask her.”

Kourtney confirmed to her mom in a phone call a bit later in the episode that, yes, indeed, Penelope’s bash would also be at 2 p.m. on that Saturday afternoon. Kourtney warned her mom, “You’d better be there.” To which Jenner replied, “Well, of course. I’ll be there,” obviously stressing over the logistics in her head.

Fortunately, sister Khloé mediated a compromise —  but brokering that deal wasn’t easy.

“OK but here’s the thing…I feel like you very often times think that you are right no matter what,” Kim told Kourtney.

“Because I usually am,” Kourtney replied. Twitter had major feels about the situation.

The Poosh founder eventually came around, saying, “I’m sorry if you think that I just want it my way… This is really about the kids, so I’m okay with some candy and having sugar. You only live once.”

And so all was well in Kardasha-Candyland, and everyone, we now know, survived food coloring and chemicals and sugar overload to film yet another day. And, as usual, no expense was spared. Say what you want, but those Kardashians know how to throw a party. In the future, though, party-planning may seem a little simpler, as Kourtney is officially leaving Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Who will Kim argue with now?
