Over the course of her career, Hillary Clinton has written at least seven books chronicling her life as First Lady, New York senator, and the 2016 Democratic Party nominee. But the beloved politician has never before written a children’s book — until now. And she has her daughter, Chelsea Clinton, to thank for this new venture.
Activist and mother of three Chelsea is still probably most well-known for being the only child of Hillary and Bill Clinton. But she’s also the author of four children’s books about social issues — including She Persisted Around The World and Start Now: You Can Make a Difference. In October 2019, Chelsea and Hillary jointly published a book for young girls called The Book of Gutsy Women, Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience, which shares the tales of the real-life women who have inspired them. Now, in their first mother-daughter children’s book, Grandma’s Gardens, which comes out in March 2020, the Clintons explore their mutual love of the Earth.
Hillary and Chelsea’s interest in gardens was passed down from Chelsea’s grandmother / Hillary’s mother, Dorothy. “She taught them that gardens are magical places to learn, exciting spaces for discovery, quiet spots to spend time with family and beautiful areas to share stories and celebrate special occasions. But most of all, she taught them that in her gardens, her love grew and blossomed,” the book description explains. “Hillary Clinton and Chelsea Clinton team up to show readers how sharing the things we love with the people we love can create powerful, everlasting bonds between generations.”
Publisher’s Weekly called the Clinton collab “a deeply affectionate tribute to the bounty of nature and the love of gardening” — and we’re pretty sure you and your green-thumbed kids will agree.
We can’t wait to see what this power couple does next.
