These Baby Names Are Predicted to Be 2020’s Most Popular

Most of us want to be just the right amount of trendy in our lives: Enough so that we look like we’re conscious of our times, but not so much that we look like we’re copying everyone else. This goes for baby names as much as it does for fashion and pop culture taste. That’s why we’re so grateful that Names.org has come up with its latest report predicting the top baby names of 2020.

Working some statistical magic, the name website has combined the Social Security Administration’s annual list of the country’s most popular names (2018 names are the most recent year for which this data is available) with trends from the past five years and stats on which names people have been searching on Names.org. If that last bit sounds a little familiar, it’s also what its competitor site Nameberry does every year, but with completely different results. And guess what? We know you parents want all the help you can get when it comes to name suggestions, so we’re not playing favorites.

For both boys and girls names, the top three names on Names.org’s 2020 list match up exactly with the actual numbers from 2018: Liam, Noah, William, and Emma, Olivia, Ava. After that, however, things get switched up. Here are the top 10 for each:

The new names on the top 10 are Henry, Alexander and Mila. The site also informs us that “just outside the top 10” are Sebastian for boys and Luna, Camila, and Aria for girls.
