Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom’s Baby Name is Basically an Entire Flower Garden

After a seemingly endless pregnancy during which pooped star — er, that is pop starKaty Perry was refreshingly honest about everything from anxiety to bladder woes, Perry and actor fiancé Orlando Bloom have finally welcomed their little girl into the world on Thursday, August 27. And the couple’s choice of baby names for the little gal are just the breath of fresh air this dark year needs.

“Welcome to the world, Daisy Dove Bloom!” The couple introduced their new arrival via Unicef’s Instagram, as they’re Goodwill Ambassadors for the organization that serves children around the world and smartly used the announcement as an opportunity to call for donations to support kids in need. “We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter.”

Daisy. Dove. Bloom. If that girl isn’t going to grow up to be an herbologist, we don’t know what to tell you. Of course, Daisy isn’t an unusual name at all; Daisy Bloom, however, puts it in out-there floral name territory, and adding a sweet peaceful bird into the middle of both flower names is almost too cutesy to believe. But hey, Perry is never one to shy away from cutesy — and if anyone can pull it off, she can.

The name Daisy references the flower, of course, but also means “the day’s eye.” The less common middle name Dove means, unsurprisingly, “bird of peace.”

This does, however, go against everything a mysterious insider told the host of the Naughty But Nice With Rob podcast back in April about Perry’s baby name plans. The source told Rob Shuter that Perry planned “to name her [daughter] Pearl or Hudson or Ann,” after her late grandma. “It was Katy’s grandmother that made Katy the woman and the fighter that she is today… Katy believes that it is no coincidence that as her granny’s soul leaves the earth, another soul arrives.”

Hey, who knows whether Gran had a fondness for flowers and gardening. Perhaps little Daisy Bloom is a tribute after all?
