Dwyane Wade & Gabrielle Union Were Moved to Tears as Daughter Zaya Made Her Paris Fashion Week Debut

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union could not hold in their pride or they tears as they sat in the front row during their daughter Zaya’s debut runway walk. The young model walked in the Miu Miu show at Paris Fashion Week (Yes, Paris Fashion Week was her start!), and she absolutely owned the runway in a forest green tweed-like dress, matching jacket, kitten heels, and a brown purse.

The couple wore all-black outfits and black sunglasses (Ok, Anna Wintour!) and couldn’t wait to embrace the 15-year-old after her epic performance.

“I’m not crying, you are,” Wade said in an Instagram story that showed a clip of Zaya’s walk.

Lies, Dwyane! Lies! We were all passing the tissues around, and you know it.

The family’s stylist, Thomas Christos Kikis, blew the bashful dad’s cover when he posted a selfie video with the former NBA player and the actress and wrote, “we cried.”

Same here! Truly, how could you not? Zaya looked so stunning, fierce, and flawless, and did we mention her debut was at Paris Fashion Week? Some models work their whole careers hoping to end up there. Someone get Tyra Banks on the phone! We found America’s Next Top Model.

“tears in my eyes as i watched @zayawade make her debut at @miumiu today,” Kikis captioned his in-feed post. “thank you @zayawade for showing me what it means to believe in yourself.”

Wade has been vocal about how proud he is of his oldest daughter — who he shares with ex wife Siohvaughn Funches along with Zaire, 21 and Zavier, 9 — and we know he is just as proud watching her walk out the door as he is to see her walk down the catwalk. The Miu Miu show came less than two weeks after a Los Angeles court legally changed Zaya’s name and sex markers (“Alexa, play ‘About Damn Time'”). The following day, Wade and Union — who also share a daughter Kaavia, 4 — were honored with the  President’s Awards at the NAACP Image Awards for their philanthropic support of gay rights. The two gave an impassioned speech, highlighting Zaya’s courage and the need for the Black community to fight for Black people in the LGBTQ community.

“I’ve sat back and watched how gracefully you have taken on the public scrutiny,” Wade said at the event. “And even though it’s not easy, I watched you walk out of that house every morning as yourself. I admire how you’ve handled the ignorance in our world. I admire that you face every day.”

“To say that your village is proud of you is an understatement.”

And with that, we’re crying, you’re crying, and all of Fashion Week is crying.

These celeb parents are so proud of their LGBTQ kids.
