Resurfaced Reports Claim That Tom Cruise May End up Paying for Daughter Suri’s Tuition

Despite Tom Cruise being estranged from his and Katie Holmes’s daughter Suri Cruise, ever since he and Holmes divorced in 2012, it seems he may end up being the one to heavily contribute to Suri’s college tuition.

While the Mission Impossible star will have literally no say in the college she chooses, it does seem like he may up footing the bill.

Tom’s child support payments are reported to total just over $33,000 per month, totaling around $400,000 per year. But along with that, one major requirement in the divorce proceedings has resurfaced, especially since Suri is so close to entering college! Per Hollywood Reporter and Hola, Cruise is required to pay Suri’s expenses, such as medical, education, college, and more.

Now, here’s the thing: Holmes receives this monthly payment until Suri turns 18. Suri’s 18th birthday was on April 18 this year.

Throughout the years, many speculated the multiple possibilities of how Suri will pay for her education: either Holmes saved up over the years, and they won’t have to worry about tuition; they could pay it in full if that option is available, or the first year will be covered. Another option is that since Cruise has to pay for college, the payments may be extended until after she graduates. Per Hola, “reports claim that Cruise will be covering the tuition, valued at 65K a year;” so it seems as though at least the first year is covered by her dad.

In any case, we just hope Suri will have an amazing time at Carnegie Mellon University!

Holmes welcomed Suri, now 17 years old, on April 18, 2006, with her ex-husband Cruise.
