Travis Kelce’s personal life recently got so interesting that he’s all anyone wants to talk about at the moment. That, of course, has a lot to do with his rumored girlfriend … which, according to his mom Donna, is a topic that the NFL player is reluctant to talk about, even with her.
On Friday, Donna appeared as a guest on Today, and co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie of course had to ask about Travis’ budding relationship with Taylor Swift. Donna was elusive as ever, telling the two women, “It’s fairly new, so I don’t like to talk about it.” Kotb and Guthrie attempted to pry more information out of Donna, but she remained tight-lipped.
“I’ll talk about my life and when the kids were little and I was with them, but they’re men now,” she said. “They’ve got their own lives and there isn’t a man alive that’s going to talk to their mom about their personal life,” Donna stated, adding, “It’s just not gonna happen.” Whether she knows more about Travis’ relationship with the “Karma” singer than she lets on, the world may never know!
Donna has always let both Travis and his older brother Jason take the driver’s seat in their own lives. She shared that she doesn’t give her kids advice because she wants them to feel full ownership of their decisions. “They’ve got to sink or swim on their own, and they have to make their own mistakes and make their own wonderful accomplishments in life, and then they know it’s theirs,” Donna explained.
She added that her parenting style has been to let her kids take the lead and follow them where they want to go. “I really think it’s important that you follow them,” Donna opined. “What do they want to do? What do they love? If you can support them, that’s the best you can possibly do.” She added, “There’s all kinds of ways that you can help them achieve their dreams. What more could you want as a parent?”
Considering both of her kids not only made it to the NFL but have also been part of Super Bowl-competing teams, we’d say both their dreams and hers have come true ten-fold.
