Ethan Hawke and his daughter Maya Hawke just made this major career move together, and fans are going into a frenzy.
On Oct 3, the Stranger Things star shared a throwback photo of her as a tot with her superstar dad, Ethan, to promote their new single. She shared the heartwarming update with the caption reading, “New track out now, “We Don’t Run.” A duet with @ethanhawke. Produced by @christianleehutson at Electric Lady Studios. Mixed by @jaysomband.”
“Thank you so much @lightintheatticrecords for inviting me and my dad to cover one of our favorite Willie Nelson songs as part of their collection, ‘Light in the Attic & Friends,’” she wrote. “The whole record, out November 24th, features legendary artists like Iggy Pop and Angel Olsen covering songs the label has re-released over the past two decades.”
She ended the post by saying, “Our song is available now to download/stream at the link in my bio.”
As you can see, the father-daughter duo worked together again on a seriously hypnotic cover of Willie Nelson’s hit song “We Don’t Run,” which is about “resilience, commitment, and the power of love,” per SongTell.
The pair, along with many other A-listers’ recent Nelson covers, will be on his celebratory vinyl collection entitled, which is set to be released on Nov 24, 2023.
But until the vinyl releases, you can listen to their single below:
As we said, this isn’t the first time Maya and the Black Phone starcollaborated on a project together. They worked on the film Wildcat, where Maya starred in and was an executive producer, and Ethan was the co-writer and director. And now, they’re ready to conquer the music world together, too!
For those who don’t know, Ethan and his ex-wife Uma Thurman married in 1998, and later welcomed two children named Maya, born in July 1998, and Levon, born in Jan 2002. They divorced in 2005.
