While there was some speculation that Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ scheduled mediation was a press move to get the media’s attention off their divorce, mediation appears to have actually worked out for the separating couple.
According to a new report by TMZ, all signs are pointing to a child custody agreement between Turner and Jonas. On Monday, the “Cool” singer was seen playing with his daughters Willa, 3, and Delphine, 1, at a park before dropping them off to Turner at Taylor Swift’s New York City apartment, where the Game of Thrones alum is currently staying. The drop-off exchange seemed to have gone smoothly, with Jonas departing the building with a pleasant expression on his face.
Child custody and a parenting plan were just a few of the items on the agenda for the estranged couple’s mediation, which was scheduled to last four days. Prior to the start of the mediation, both parties’ lawyers acknowledged Turner and Jonas were equally interested in establishing joint custody. Child custody arrangements can often be the most contentious part of divorces, so we applaud the musician and actress for being able to come to an amicable agreement, if that is indeed the case.
Jonas’ surprise divorce filing was announced in September 2023. After a few days of spatting in the media, the X-Men star and Jonas Brothers member seem to have reigned in whatever drama was unfolding and are now handling their divorce in a much less messy manner. Hopefully things continue to take a more peaceful course, for both their sake and that of their young daughters.
