Kim Kardashian Revealed the Parenting Decision She Didn’t Want To Tell Kanye About: ‘I Was Scared Out of My Mind’

Saint West is a 7-year-old boy living in a family whose cup runneth over with influential and powerful women. As Kim Kardashian said in a recent episode of The Kardashians, her household and the KarJenner clan in general is “very female-dominated.” And so Kim — who shares Saint along with kids North, 10, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4 with her estranged ex-husband Kanye “Ye” West — wanted to make sure Saint had a consistent male role model in his life. Because of gender norms and all?

“I recently hired a ‘manny,'” she said. “I really wanted a male around that would be picking them up and taking them to sports, and I was scared out of my mind to tell their dad that.”

And yet, it actually went pretty well, the SKIMS founder said. When the manny was dropping off the kids, Kanye introduced himself

“They played two-on-two with Saint and him,” Kim said. “[Kanye] has been so nice to him, like ‘Hey, if you’re going to help raise my son…’ [The manny] handed [Saint] the ball really easily or something — [and Kanye’s] like, ‘Don’t do that, have him get it himself. It’s some of the rules I would want.’ And I was like ‘Oh my God, okay.'”

Kim’s apprehension was understandable since Kanye has been so unpredictable in the past few years. This summer she talked about how “confusing” and difficult it has been to watch Kanye manage his bipolar disorder and for them to navigate co-parenting.

“The whole situation is sad and I don’t know how to handle it,” she continued. “I’m conflicted because I don’t ever want to jump in and be a part of a downfall for the father of my kids. Your instinct is to be like, ‘Wow I can never talk to this person again.’ But then you think of your babies. And so I’m having a hard time figuring it out.”

“I am just in protection mode of my kids and just try to hide everything,” she continued. “It’s just hard for me to figure out, if they don’t know anything, why wouldn’t Dad come over for dinner? Why isn’t Dad at my things?”

Each time we learn of a new person entering Saint’s life, we have to wonder if they were the one who prepared him for this iconic paparazzi shot. He clearly gave photographers the middle finger, and while he (and we) laughed about it, Kim was [understandably] not happy about his behavior. She was seen scolding him and shielding him from the press.

So, Manny, was it you who taught him how to flip the bird? Or was it North, like we originally suspected? We have to imagine that if the manny is going easy on Saint during a game of basketball, he isn’t teaching the young boy to say “eff you.”
