Babies and paint do not mix well. Sure, creating carefully supervised artwork with your baby is adorable — like little pumpkin handprints or ghost feet! — but letting your little one have free rein with paint is a recipe for anxiety. And that’s exactly what Chrissy Teigen experienced while pumpkin painting with her 9-month-old daughter Esti.
In a new post on Instagram, simply captioned “best,” Teigen shared a video of pumpkin painting. It looks like she has a plastic tarp spread out on the hardwood floor, with little plates filled with paint. Luna, 7, is at one corner, painting her pumpkin, and Esti is sitting at another. The baby is wearing only a diaper and has red paint all over her hand, legs, feet, and face.
Esti has one hand in the paint and the other on the tarp, and she starts crawling off the tarp in the video. She goes straight for the floor, smearing paint everywhere!
“Oh no!” Teigen says with a laugh. “We can’t go crawling! We gotta get it on the pumpkin.”
Someone reaches out to redirect Esti to the tarp and the pumpkin. She turns and puts one hand in the paint plate and the other paint-covered hand back on the floor as the video cuts out. It’s stressful just watching this! (Pro tip: My kids and I do pumpkin painting on the back porch to avoid the stress of paint getting all over the house.)
The Cravings author, who shares daughters Esti and Luna, and sons Miles, 5, and Wren, 3 months, with husband John Legend, also shared cute photos of her kids. Wren wears skateboarding pajamas in one pic, with his thick brown hair messy on his head. In another, Miles and Luna wear matching football headbands as they watch Little Giants on TV.
One of the sweetest moments features Luna hugging her baby Wren surrounded by pumpkins. She smiles so cutely as she wraps her arms around him, and it’s such a precious big sister picture!
“Cuteness overloaddddd😍,” one person commented. Another wrote, “Your kiddos always put a BIG smile on my face. It’s been fun watching them growup. You and John are fantastic parents.”
Earlier this month, Teigen shared a glimpse of her Halloween decorations on her Instagram Story. A team created an elaborate pumpkin arrangement complete with planters of mums and two massive skeleton figures standing in the gourds. Baby Wren sat on a pumpkin with his grandma in one cute video. In another, Miles checked out the skeletons.
“What! It’s not even real, it’s squishy!” he said after touching them.
“What do you mean it’s not even real, of course not!” Teigen responded with a laugh. Kids are the greatest, aren’t they?
