Jacob Elordi’s Parents Finally Think He’s a ‘Real’ Actor & The Confession Is Adorable

Most people would consider Jacob Elordi to be an incredibly talented and successful actor. He is best known for his roles in the HBO series Euphoria and Netflix’s The Kissing Booth trilogy. Even if the size of his audience or his whopping paychecks don’t impress you (Um, how?!), his latest role is an undeniable sign that this Australian actor is going legit.

The 26-year-old plays Elvis Presley in the upcoming film, Priscilla, and wow! He landed the part of the King of Rock and Roll. No big deal.

It’s a feat his parents are undoubtedly impressed by and proud of, but not for the reason you think.

In a recent interview with Hoda Kotb on Today, the anchor took a trip down memory lane with Elordi, sharing a clip of a previous interview they did. In it, Kotb spotted people in the mirror of the room where Elordi was doing the Zoom interview.

The hosts pointed them out, asking who they were, and the young actor turned his screen to show that it was his mom and dad sitting on the nearby bed. His mom was so cute and embarrassed, hiding her head in her hands. Because yeah, she definitely didn’t plan on being caught creeping. And on national television, no less!

“Tell me,” Kotb said after sharing the clip, “what are they thinking as you’re going through this pretty cool journey.”

Elordi got bashful — rubbing his neck and smiling — and said he thinks this is the first time he’s been covered on Australian TV and radio.

“So they’re just tuned into everything,” he said. “They can’t believe it. I’m finally a ‘real’ actor.”

Ha! Finallya real actor. We’re certain Mom and Dad have thought that for a long time, but it’s still so funny and sweet that Elordi thinks making it on Australian talk shows — which was no doubt exciting for the fam! — is what sealed the deal. Even after all his previous success. This is what it took.

If this was a Zoom interview and his parents were right there, we’re sure Kotb would have checked with them, but alas. They were likely sound asleep in Aus.

She then noted that Elordi seemed “almost embarrassed by his celebrity,” and he agreed.

“I think that’s maybe the sign of a sane person,” he said. “It would be insane if I rolled with it.”

Just like it would be insane if he thinks his parents only now think he’s a “real” actor. We’re sure he’s totally off-base, but this bashful interaction was adorable nonetheless.

These celebrity kids are giving their parents a humbling reality check by having zero interest in their movies.
