A child’s birthday is a bittersweet time. It’s a milestone marked by joyful celebrations, but parents know it also means their little kiddo is growing up. Andrew East is really feeling that duality after his daughter Drew — who he shares with his wife Shawn Johnson along with their 2-year-old son Jett — turned 4 yesterday.
“I’m simultaneously ecstatic and grieving,” he captioned a super emo video on Instagram.

The retired football player posted an Instagram reel yesterday that started with a selfie video of himself and Johnson. The Olympic gold medalist is looking at her husband lovingly and he’s shaking his head at the camera. “Told my daughter she can’t grow up unless she promised to love me forever,” he wrote over the video.
It then cuts to baby monitor footage of him and Drew in her room.
“I need you to stop growing up,” he said, sitting on her bed. “Alright? What am I going to do when you’re not my baby girl?”
Drew leaned against her bed and said, “I’ll still — I’ll love you so, so much.”
We’re not crying, you are!
“I’m just — I’m getting a little scared,” he admitted.
“It’s ok,” she said, jumping up and wrapping him in a big hug. East added three crying emojis on top of this part because YUP.
She then started wiping away what he assured her were happy tears before giving him a big smooch on the lips. Then she wiped away some more tears before they started to cuddle.

Johnson shared videos on her Instagram story from Drew’s birthday party at a massive play gym, and it looks like the dads got so into it, running around on the trampolines. So at least East got to have some major fun before getting majorly emo. Don’t worry, East, we’re sure Drew really will still love you “so, so much.”
