Parents get maybe one or two chances to choose their baby’s Halloween costume before they become toddlers and suddenly have big opinions on what they want to dress up as. Olivia Munn picked the perfect costume for her son Malcolm last year, and he absolutely nailed it!
The Hit-Monkey actress revealed that Malcolm, who turns 2 next month, dressed up as her mom Kim Munn last year. “Halloween last year … Malcolm as my mom,” Munn wrote on Instagram yesterday. “Sunflower seeds everywhere ✅ Crazy long Slim Jims ✅ Snacks snacks snacks ✅✅✅ Always on her phone ✅.”
She then demonstrated all these traits in a series of adorable photos. In the first, Malcolm wears a black bob wig, a gray t-shirt, pink floral pants, and blue flip flops. He rests on the couch looking at a phone, with all the aforementioned snacks surrounding him. He’s so cute! In the next photo, you can see the woman behind the costume inspiration and, yeah, Malcolm definitely understood the assignment. He looks identical to his grandmother!
Munn also shared a photo of Malcolm sitting next to dad John Mulaney, and another with Mulaney and Kim hanging out together. It’s just too cute.
“The sunflower seeds are SENDING ME,” one person wrote.
Another person said, “Love this, he nailed it! That’s exactly the same as my Vietnamese mother even down to the wash and go haircut. adding for mine ✅ always in pajamas. 🤣 glad I’m not alone in this.”
“Omg I die! The resemblance is on point!” someone else commented.
Earlier this month, Mulaney opened up about his friendship with Munn’s mom on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
“Me and Olivia’s mom, Ms. Kim, hang out, uh, every … all day and all night,” he said with a laugh. The Baby J comedian explained that she came to stay with them for a while when they had Malcolm.
“It was amazing, we became like instant friends,” he continued. “And we watch 1-2 Korean period pieces every night.” He added, “Olivia doesn’t want to watch these, so she’s like, ‘You two do your thing.’ She once found a notepad I had with a list of Korean movies that I had read good things about to watch with Ms. Kim. And she wrote, ‘This is more effort than you’ve put into any of our date nights.’”
He hilariously recounted how the two accidentally stumbled on a movie with “the most graphic, sexual, erotic … I was like, truly, like this is what people mean by ‘erotic.’” Awkward! Luckily Ms. Kim defused the tension at one point when she looked over to Mulaney and said, “Hormones, everbody got ‘em!” So true, Ms. Kim.
We can’t wait to see what — or who! — Malcolm dresses up as this year.
