This Mom’s Divisive Viral Song Is Poking Fun at How Dads Are Almost Always Praised for Doing This

We’ve had this discussion too many times to count, but there’s a huge disparity in how moms and dads are seen. Oftentimes, moms do so much around the house, but are criticized up and down for doing something like getting McDonald’s for dinner when they’re exhausted from doing everything else. But when the father does something quite basic like taking their kids to the park, or also bringing home McDonald’s for dinner, they’re instantly called a good dad.

Moms don’t hear it enough, but dads seemingly always get the praise — and that’s where Farideh’s viral songs come into play.

If you’re on the mommy side of Instagram, chances are you saw Farideh’s song entitled “You Are Such a Good Dad,” which is a catchy comedy song about this disparity. Throughout the song’s bridges, we hear all the things she does throughout the day like cooking, cleaning, nap time, and much, much more. Then in the chorus, she talks about how their father does one minor thing, and is praised for it.

She posted the video to the song on her Instagram back in Oct 12 with the caption reading, “Such a good dad is available in all streaming platforms 😉 #fairplay #momcomedy #momlife #momlifebelike.”

Farideh’s musical mission is to help “women feel seen,” per Today, and truly, so many moms have felt seen with this song alone.

Moms were quick to comment on how this song is so true, saying things like “Point is, mom does everything and gets little to no recognition, and here comes dad and does the bare minimum and stars twinkle and gets applauded.” And another sweet soul said, “Let’s normalize telling moms they’re good moms. I’ll start: You are such a great mom ☺️🥰”

And even dads agreed with the song’s message, “To the people who didn’t get it, it’s a parody. Also, as a dad, I see the point as dads get props for doing the most minimal parenting, whereas moms are expected to do so much with no compliments.”

However, some people did have a problem with the song, saying, “It’s not a competition. Stop shaming men for being present” (but many parents were quick to say, “hey now, this is so many people’s reality!”)
