Laundry Day is every day when you’re a parent. There’s always something grass-stained, spit-upped on, or peed on to throw in the wash — plus all the regular laundry you have to do. It’s a lot of work, and Drew Scott is just now figuring it out with his 18-month-old son Parker, who he shares with wife Linda Phan. He posted a hilarious video about this never-ending chore, and parents could definitely relate.
“No one told me #parenthood would be 80% laundry 👶🏻,” the Property Brothers co-host quipped on Instagram today. In the video, he walks past a laundry hamper in the bathroom, dropping some of Parker’s clothes in it each time he passes by. Text on the screen (and the accompanying sound) reveals the names of the week, and by the time he gets to “Thursday, Friday, Saturday,” the basket is so overflowing with clothes he can barely pick it up. It’s so painfully accurate! I have three kids, and the amount of laundry is unbelievable!
Parents commented on this common experience. Many comments simply said, “Confirm!!!!!” or “Can relate 😂.”
“Need a bigger hamper!” another suggested.
Someone else shared a horror story for when your kids get a little older. “And it doesn’t even get better as they get older, because somehow there’s more clothes to clean,” they wrote. “I wasn’t quite sure how for a couple of years and then I saw them do it one day I literally saw them change their clothes three times, and they all ended up in the hamper even though they weren’t honestly dirty. I just did six loads of laundry last week and their laundry hampers are already full again. 😂😭🙈” Don’t tell us that!
In an August 2022 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Scott said that parenting “unlocks a side you didn’t know you had.”
“You think you know. I have this deep love for Linda but then, all of a sudden, that’s the shallow pool,” he continued. “I’m not saying shallow with Linda, I love Linda, but there’s a whole other depth to Linda and my love together with Parker. It’s amazing just seeing his face when he looks at you, like, once he started focusing in and he locks eyes with you — oh, your heart melts. It’s amazing.”
It kinda makes all that extra laundry worth it (most of the time!).
