Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have been soaking up every second of life with their babies Esti and Wren, but the “Wild” crooner admitted they’re looking forward to revisiting an upcoming phase of parenthood.
During a chat with People on Thursday, Legend said, “I feel like we enjoy baby mode.” Fun as the first phase of childrearing is, the EGOT-winning musician revealed that it’s not his and Teigen’s favorite chapter of parenthood. Legend confessed, “[W]e enjoy toddler, getting a little older mode even more. We’re excited for that to come soon.”
Of the two infants — daughter Esti, who Teigen birthed in January, followed by son Wren, who arrived via surrogate five months later in June — the “All of Me” singer mused, “They’re sort of like twins. It kind of feels like that, but not.”
Esti in particular is close to reaching a major milestone, according to her proud papa. “She’s really getting close to walking, which is pretty early,” Legend revealed. “She’s crawling and standing herself up already and leaning on the table. She pulls herself up and it feels like she’s getting really close. She’d be one of the earliest ones of our kids [to walk] if she does,” he shared.
As for Wren, Legend and Teigen are obsessed with his bubbly nature. “He smiles so much,” The Voice coach said. “That’s our favorite thing about him. He’s such a smiley boy. He just lights up the room, looks like a little Cabbage Patch doll.”
The world is just as enamored by the adorable little boy — in fact, he was named People’s 2023 Cutest Baby earlier this month. Not even a year old and he’s already winning awards like his daddy!
