Kaley Cuoco and Tom Pelphrey welcomed baby Matilda earlier this year — and it was literally a dream come true. The Harley Quinn actress revealed that she and Pelphrey basically manifested their daughter, and the story will make you melt!
During their first week of dating — back in April 2022 — they heard someone call the name “Matilda,” and it was basically fate. “We looked at each other and it was like, ‘Would it be crazy to say if we had a baby we’d name her Matilda?’” Cuoco told TODAY on Tuesday. “You know when you first start dating and you’re so obsessed, and you’re planning your future children. It was that sort of thing.”
The Based on a True Story star, who announced her pregnancy in Oct. 2022, added that they knew they were going to name their baby Matilda right away. “When we got pregnant and we learned we were having a girl, we were like, ‘Oh my God — we have the name,” Cuoco said. “We actually kept her name a complete secret until she was born.”
“And it’s so her. She’s such a Matilda,” she added.
Matilda, whose full name is Matilda Carmine Richie Pelphrey and goes by “Tildy,” was born on March 30, 2023. Cuoco shared a video of the Ozark star dancing with the newborn to the “Waltzing Matilda” song by Banjo Peterson as a cute nod to the name, which also means “strength” and “brave.”
Being brave seems to describe Tildy well, especially when it comes to animals. “[Tildy] is obsessed. What a beautiful thing to raise a kid — she’s only six months — surrounded by animals 24/7,” The Big Bang Theory alum told Entertainment Tonightlast month.
“She’s in her walker now. She doesn’t walk, she doesn’t even crawl, but she miraculously is in her walker, like, running around the house, so we laugh,” Cuoco added. “We’re like, ‘Look out, everybody. You’re gonna lose a tail.’” Such a little adventurer!
