Mom life is hard to imagine unless you’re in it. You can babysit, read all the guides, and prepare as much as you want, but once you welcome a child into your life, everything changes. In a new interview, Heather Rae El Moussa opened up about the surprising way motherhood is not how she imagined it would be.
The Selling Sunset star, who is mom to 9-month-old Tristan with husband Tarek El Moussa, said motherhood is “truly the best experience.” “I did not think that I would love being a mom as much as I do, and I truly love being a mommy,” she told PEOPLE.
If you want a child, you probably can picture your life as a parent and how much you’ll enjoy it. But it’s impossible to really know how incredible the experience it is until your baby comes home, which Heather Rae described so perfectly.
“It’s my favorite,” she continued. “It’s my era of my life and my favorite chapter of my life, and I just cannot wait to watch him grow and see all these little new things that he’s doing. It’s the best.”
Heather Rae, who is also a step-mom to Tarek’s kids Taylor, 12, and Brayden, 7, with ex Christina Hall, also shared how her perspective has shifted since becoming a mom.
“Living through Tristan’s eyes and his experiences,” is what Heather Rae enjoys the most about motherhood. “I’ve never been around babies as much,” she continued. “Obviously being a new mom and just watching life through him is so incredible. It’s really taught me to just slow down and almost live a new life all over for myself and living it through my son’s eyes.” Aww!
Last week, Heather Rae shared a gorgeous family photo of the blended family of five. “I’m truly so thankful for my loves 🤍,” she wrote on Instagram. “Life can be chaotic at times, life can bring stress. But I am so happy that I wake up daily to conquer what the day brings me.”
She added that she is reflecting on what she is thankful for this year. “My greatest gift: my sweet Tristan Bear. The world is a better place with his sweet soul. I’m so lucky to be his mama,” she wrote.
