Kim Kardashian’s eldest daughter North West is known for having a strong personality, and the SKIMS founder is trying to gently teach the 10-year-old how to “soften” one trait in particular.
During this week’s episode of The Kardashians, North accompanies her mom to a fitting for the 2023 Met Gala. While looking over the design of Kardashian’s ensemble, the pre-teen opines, “It could be just a little bit better.”
In her confessional, the mom of four light-heartedly reflects on her eldest’s “critical” tendencies, referencing North confidently giving different designers “notes” during her fittings. “This is just her vibe,” Kardashian explains before asking her daughter to “be easy on me today.”
North bluntly replies, “I am. I’m not going to lie. I won’t say it at all if you don’t want me to. I’m not going to lie.” Exhibiting her gentle parenting skills, the reality star explains, “There’s a way to be honest and not hurt people’s feelings, so I want you to learn that. Because there’s a way to say, ‘You know, I might not love that.'”
Considering her mom’s words, North says, “You know, I might not love your necklace or your outfit because I’m just trying to support you because you know, whatever you like, you know.” Bless her heart, the 10-year-old asks, “Was that good?” Her mom tactfully replies, “Yeah, that was a good start.”
Appearing again in her confessional, the businesswoman shares, “North won’t lie, and that’s amazing. So I’m trying to teach her you don’t need to just jump in and annihilate people for no reason. There’s a way to soften it up,” Kardashian says.
We love the way the 43-year-old is trying to help her daughter find a balance between her natural inclinations and a more personable, kind way to express herself to others. Parenting is certainly not always easy, and the way The Kardashians star is navigating this situation says a lot about how thoughtful and caring she is as a mother.
