Toddlers are free-spirited and wild, and we love that about them … most of the time. But there is one thing that many toddlers love doing that we swear is giving us gray hairs, and we’re not alone. Shawn Johnson hilariously captured the way little kids keep us on our toes in a new video with her husband Andrew East, and it has a jump scare scene that is so similar to real life.
“Toddler parents when they look away for TWO SECONDS,” the Olympic gold medalist wrote over a new video on Instagram. East is playing the part of the toddler, dressed in a blue hoodie and black pants, riding on a little car track in the backyard. Everything is happy and fine, so Johnson glances down to take another bite of her lunch from the back porch. Just a peaceful afternoon, right? Wrong!
When Johnson looks back up to check on her “toddler,” he is suddenly buck naked! East has ditched his clothes, backward baseball cap, and shoes, and is now wearing not a stitch of clothing other than a black cowboy hat. He’s halfway up a tree, looking totally out of control (and as a mom of three boys, this is 100% an accurate depiction!).
In the video, Johnson takes a bite, then gets up to go grab him. You gotta fuel up first!
“The bite before running over to them is so real 😂😂😂,” one person commented.
“Hahahahahahah STOP THAT RIGHT NOW,” another said. “It’s insane how fast they can get naked 😂,” someone else said.
“That’s hilarious…. And 💯 accurate 🤣” another confirmed. “Those clothes disappear so fast, yet it takes 10 minutes to dress a moving toddler 😅.” Ugh, so true!
The former gymnast often shares relatable (and hilarious) parenting videos, like when she depicted what it’s like trying to talk on the phone with kids in the house. But she also posts about the sweet moments, too. Earlier this month, East took Drew, 3, and Jett, 2, on a bike ride to school, and Johnson captured the sweet trip on video (because she was closely following in her car to make sure they arrived safely).
Johnson also posts about real struggles she faces as a mom of two (and one on the way). On her Instagram story today, she shared how hard it is that her 2-year-old knows how to climb out of his crib. “Jett crib escape chronicles…” she wrote. “He’s now become so proud to tell us he ‘got out crib’ it’s a problem.”
She explained that he doesn’t get out of bed in the middle of the night, thankfully, but he has been waking up an hour earlier at 6 a.m. and climbing out. “We tried the crib tent last night but he got scared of it so we took it off,” she continued. “Going to try it for nap time. But dude…. rough timing. NO chance I’m transitioning him to a big boy bed yet haha no. This baby is coming any day.”
Poor mama! We know that’s not easy. But maybe all this chaos will give her new inspiration for another funny video! At least she knows she is not alone in this crazy parenting phase.
