Rumer Willis Shared One Trait Baby Louetta Inherited from Bruce Willis & Our Hearts Are Melting

Bruce Willis has passed down a famous trait to his granddaughter Louetta “Lou” Isley, and it sounds so cute. Rumer Willis, who shares Lou with boyfriend Derek Richard Thomas, dished about one way she sees her dad in her 7-month-old daughter at the opening night of Love Actually Live at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday.

“Whenever she’s got a stern discerning look on her face, I just see Bruce Willis,” the Sorority Row star told PEOPLE at the event. “My dad — especially on [TV series] Moonlighting — has this little side smirk, that very [mischievous] twinkle in his eye, and I see that so much in her.”

Aww, how sweet! Maybe she’ll inherit his sharp wit and kind-hearted spirit too!  One thing’s for sure: she’s already bringing joy to her mama. “[Louetta] is truly the joy of my life and my little best friend, and I’ve never had anything happen to me that’s brought me greater joy,” Willis continued.

The model is also excited about spending the holidays with her family, especially because it’ll be Lou’s first Christmas. “I think I bought little Christmas onesies before she was even born,” she joked, adding that she will get to take part in family traditions. “We always do the matching pajamas every year, all of us,” Willis explained. “I love that there’s a possibility of being able to do new traditions as well as carry on the old ones that we’ve already had.”

On Nov. 20, Willis felt nostalgic for the past. She shared an adorable throwback photo of the Die Hard star holding her as a baby, writing, “Really missing my papa today. 🥲”

Earlier this year, Bruce’s diagnosis of aphasia developed into frontotemporal dementia. In Oct. 2023, Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron gave the New York Postan update about his friend. “The thing that makes [his disease] so mind-blowing is [that] if you’ve ever spent time with Bruce Willis, there is no one who had any more joie de vivre than he,” the director shared. “He loved life and … just adored waking up every morning and trying to live life to its fullest.”

Caron continued, “My sense is the first one to three minutes he knows who I am. He’s not totally verbal; he used to be a voracious reader — he didn’t want anyone to know that — and he’s not reading now. All those language skills are no longer available to him, and yet he’s still Bruce,” he explained.

“When you’re with him you know that he’s Bruce and you’re grateful that he’s there, but the joie de vivre is gone,” Caron concluded.

It’s heartbreaking to watch a loved one go through major health issues like that, but the family must take some comfort in the fact that he will live on through the next generation — not least of all, in his granddaughter’s smirk.
