Forget toys and stuffed animals — Shawn Johnson knows what toddlers really want for Christmas this year, and it’s the most relatable thing ever.
“If we gave our toddler what he actually wants for Christmas,” the Olympic gold medalist wrote over an Instagram video. In the clip, you might be expecting to see an iPad — or maybe even an empty box — but no. She walks around the house putting red holiday bows on all the “no-no”s in the house, including the dishwasher, an electrical socket, knives, charging cords, and his mama’s ponytail, among other things. (Because these are obviously the most fun things in the house!)
I am crying laughing right now. As the mom of an almost 2-year-old, this is so damn true. I would also put a bow on the dog’s water bowl, the snack basket in the pantry, my car keys, and the actual Christmas tree. Are you kidding? He would be so happy to have free rein pulling all the ornaments off and watching them shatter on the ground.
“Hahaha literally what it would be like to wrap Jett’s favorite things around the house 😂 @andrewdeast,” Johnson captioned the photo, referring to her 2-year-old son Jett, who she shares with husband Andrew East. (They are also parents to daughter Drew, 3.)
Apparently, this is a universal toddler behavior because so many parents commented on the funny video.
“My husband’s cousin gave my daughter take out containers one christmas. It was her favorite gift,” one person wrote.
“Who needs presents when you have a pony tail and a doorstop, REALLY!?” another said. One commenter wrote, “Hahaha my 18 month old daughter is the same way!!! 😂😂😂”
“This is GOLD,” someone else said, pretty much summing up how we all feel about it. Toddlers keep you on your toes, that’s for sure!
The former gymnast, who is currently pregnant with baby number 3 with East, often posts relatable and hilarious parenting content. Last month, she shared a hilarious look at what your toddler does when you “look away for TWO SECONDS.” In the video, East pretends to be their son Jett, who is happily playing in the backyard. Johnson takes a bite of her lunch, and when she looks back up, East-as-Jett is climbing the tree without a stitch of clothing on. Yup, can 100% confirm this is an accurate representation of toddler parent life.
Johnson clearly follows the philosophy, “if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry,” and we love her for it.
These celebrity kids want to follow in their parents’ footsteps.
