Andy Cohen’s Son Ben Had the Cutest Explanation When He Was Caught Eating a Gingerbread House for Breakfast

Why do parents decorate for the holidays with candy if kids aren’t allowed to eat it? That’s probably want Andy Cohen’s 4-year-old son Ben was wondering after he got caught red-handed eating part of a gingerbread house for breakfast on Saturday — and his explanation is too cute.

“Early morning convo with Ben,” the Bravo TV host wrote on Instagram. “Thanks for the gingerbread house, Mark [Consuelos] n Kelly [Ripa] – as you can see, it’s a big hit! ♥️”

In the video, Cohen is sitting on the couch questioning Ben about his breakfast choices. “Ben, I don’t like coming downstairs and finding you with the gingerbread house in your mouth,” he says. Cohen asks Ben why he was doing that, and Ben responds, “’Cause it’s just so yummy!”

Duh, dad! How could you not eat it? Cohen sighs, seemingly exasperated by his 4-year-old’s logic (probably because he can’t even argue with it). “I’ve told you not to eat the gingerbread house,” he continues in the video. “I’m sure it is yummy, but I don’t think you’re supposed to eat it Ben.”

He asks what it tastes like, and Ben responds, “It tastes like something so good! Like a cookie or something.” A cookie decorated with icing and candy!

Then Cohen asks if its stale (fair question). “Does it taste hard and old?” he asks his son. “It tastes so delicious like Daddy!” he adds, giving his dad a big hug. This kid really knows how to get what he wants!

Cohen smiles, clearly caving to the cuteness, and tries one last time to rein in his preschooler. “Can you please try to stop eating it?” he asks.

“But, Daddy, I just can’t stop eating gingerbread houses,” Ben whispers. How is this kid all of us during the holiday season?!

Celebrities weighed in on this cute video. Khloe Kardashian commented, “Ben is me! I am Ben! Ben is US!!!! His explanation deserves the gingerbread house 🎄🎄.” Agreed!

Kristen Chenoweth said, “I. Love. Him. Period.”

“Well at least the oldest & saddest u taste is like a gingerbread house 😂,” Sharon Stone wrote.

“The flattery of ‘Delicious like daddy!’….kids a genius,” someone else commented.

“That little voice! And he’s so honest ‘I just can’t stop eating’. I get that Ben. I get that. 😂😍” another person wrote. Someone else said, “Ben the lawyer going to win the debate every time..I don’t know why you bother 😂♥️🙌.”

“He can’t. And he was clear with his explanation, so we’re all set,” one person commented. Case closed!

The Watch What Happens Live host, who is also dad to daughter Lucy, 1, opened up about Ben’s interesting breakfast choices this summer. In one Instagram video, Cohen asked his son, “Ben, what are you doing hiding behind a chair with two bags of chips at seven in the morning?”

“Uh, eating chips because I love chips,” he responded matter-of-factly. That tracks!

In another video, Cohen shared that Ben brings “two pieces of turkey bacon with him to camp every day” like an emotional support breakfast.

“He walks into camp with the bacon in his hands,” Cohen said. “And occasionally it falls in the car, on the floor, or whatever. We clean it up. It’s his crutch. Bacon is his crutch. Good morning,” he empathically added.

Ben got a stomachache another time after eating seven Reece’s peanut butter cups for breakfast another day. “Learning about repercussions,” Cohen captioned a video. “And what IS breakfast anyway???? An evolving conversation I’m having with Ben….”

It sounds like Ben has the right idea about breakfast, and everyone else needs to catch up!
