Christina Ricci’s Daughter Cleo Is Going Through an Awful Milestone & Our Hearts Go Out to Her

Some parenting milestones are exciting — like those first steps or the first time they say “mama” — but others can be much more challenging. Christina Ricci is going through it right now with her 2-year-old daughter Cleo, and we are sending her all the positive thoughts!

The Yellowstone actress shared an update about her toddler on her Instagram story today. “2 year old sleep regression destroying me,” Ricci wrote. “Send help.”

Oh no! Sleep regressions are the worst! For those who don’t know (lucky!!), sleep regressions are when your normally happy sleeper suddenly won’t nap, fights bedtime, wakes up super early, or wakes up in the middle of the night, according to Taking Cara Babies, a company that offers tools and resources to help parents teach their babies to sleep. Sleep regressions can happen at any time, and they are often the result of your child going through a major growth spurt or mastering new skills. You can try all the products to help, but sometimes this is just something you have to wait out (and drink extra coffee!).

Ricci, who shares Cleo with husband Mark Hampton, has been open about her struggles getting her kids to sleep in the past. The Wednesday star is also mom to son Freddie, 9, with ex-husband James Heerdegen.

Last October, Ricci told SheKnowsthat she was still working to get Freddie to sleep in his own bed. “We’re still working on sleeping with Fred,” Ricci told us, “and we found it helps him to go to bed in his own room if he has [our dogs] Patrick and Karen with him. So that’s his biggest interaction with the dogs. At night in his bed, they’re his little buddies.”

At the time, Cleo was actually sleeping surprisingly well. “The fact that I can put her down in her crib and she just goes to sleep when my 8-year-old still sleeps with me is amazing,” Ricci told PEOPLE last year, adding that when she previously tried to sleep train Freddie, he “screamed himself hoarse and started banging his head against the crib railing.”

“But with Cleo, when we decided to try it and see how she would react to it, she just sort of whined for about seven minutes and then laid down, clutched her little unicorn and went to sleep,” Ricci shared. “It was like she was ready and she wanted to do it, and it was right for her.”

Unfortunately, no good thing can last forever, and Ricci’s previously chill sleeper is now proving to be difficult. Hopefully she’ll go back to sleeping sweetly through the night soon!
