See the Sweet Moment a Stunned Katie Couric Learns She’s Gonna Be a Grandma — With a Swiftie Twist

There is nothing quite like seeing the reaction of a parent finding out they have a grandkid on the way. It’s one of the most wholesome things there is, and the video of Katie Couric finding out she’s about to be a grandma did not disappoint.

The former Today co-anchor shared a video on Instagram of her sitting outside with her daughters — Ellie, 32 and Carrie, 27 — who she shared with her late husband Jay Monahan who died from colon cancer in 1998.

“Been dying to tell you,” she captioned the post. “This is what happens when you go to a @taylorswift concert last summer and forget your friendship bracelet and your daughters say, ‘Don’t worry, we made one for you!'”

In the hilarious and tear-jerking clip, Carrie hands her mom a friendship bracelet. It takes Couric a minute to understand what it says.

“Brand, brandy, brandy, B, granny, granny-to-be,” she says, laughing as she struggles to read it.

Then the message dawns on her, and the pure shock on her face is priceless. She looks around before Ellie says, “I’m pregnant.”

And then Couric’s jaw is on the floor. Ain’t that the best thing you ever heard?! What better way for daughters with “a PhD in Swiftology” to tell their Swiftie mom that she’s going to be a grandma for the first time than with a friendship bracelet she can wear with pride?

Followers rightfully loved this adorable clip.

“Thank you for sharing this special moment. Congratulations, Katie and family!! 😍” “I love your reaction after you finally understand” “Congratulations to you and your family! The best reveal ever! Your reaction is priceless❤️” “OMG. katie. your face. epic ! I love this ❤️”

Given that they went to the concert in August, Ellie is at least through her first trimester. And we’re sure the first-time Grandma[-to-be] is counting down the days under her little T-Swift-loving (it’s a requirement now) bundle of joy is here.
