Guy Fieri Says His Kids Won’t Automatically Inherit His Fortune With Surprisingly Strict Ultimatum: ‘Come & Take It From Me’

Guy Fieri just signed a whopping $100 million contract with Food Network, which must be as exciting for the mayor of “Flavortown” as it is for his family. Except the Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives host revealed that his kids — sons Hunter, 27 and Ryder, 17 and his nephew Jules, 22, who he and his wife Lori have helped raised for more than a decade since his sister died in 2011 — will not be receiving a piece of that hefty pie when he passes away. Not unless they meet his conditions.

The three each need not one, but two degrees to their names if they want an inheritance.

“I’ve told them the same thing my dad told me. My dad says, ‘When I die, you can expect that I’m going to die broke, and you’re going to be paying for the funeral.’” Fieri said. “And I told my boys, ‘None of this that … I’ve been building are you going to get unless you come and take it from me.’”

Wow! The restauranteur is happy to eat his way across the country — or do whatever else he damn pleases — and not leave his boys a penny if they don’t set themselves up for success. It’s an admirable plan, albeit surprisingly strict given the laid-back personality we see on TV.

Hunter and Jules are on board — currently working toward an MBA and law degree, respectively.

“Jules is in the music industry down in LA,” Fieri said. “If you’re going to be a big-time entertainment agent, you need to have that law background. So he’s doing that.”

Meanwhile, Ryder is not a fan of the plan.

“Dad, this is so unfair,” the teen reportedly said. “I haven’t even gone to college yet, and you’re already pushing that I’ve got to get an MBA? Can I just get through college?”

Which is an understandable and not totally unexpected response from a teen. Earning two degrees certainly seems daunting. But we’d be happy to get triple the number of degrees if it meant cashing in on “Triple D.”
