The holidays aren’t a competition — every celebrates (or doesn’t) based on their beliefs and traditions. But if it were a competition, then Andy Cohen’s son Ben, 4, knows which one would win: Hanukkah, hands down! The Bravo TV show host shared a new video of his toddler explaining why Hanukkah is “better” than Christmas, and his reasoning is honestly spot on.
“What’s the difference between Christmas and Hanukkah?” Cohen asks Ben in an Instagram story posted Tuesday. The two are sitting on the couch together watching The Polar Express on TV and chatting about the holidays.
“Hanukkah’s better,” Ben confidently responds.
“Why?”
“Well, ‘cause it’s eight days and Christmas is…” Ben answers.
“Christmas is one day?” Cohen clarifies. “Eight versus one, I like it.”
Seriously! Getting gifts on eight days is definitely better than one — Ben has it all figured out.
Cohen added some context to the video, writing, “He loves Christmas, but is fully into Hannukah!”
Earlier this morning, Cohen posted a selfie cuddling with Ben and watching TV. “Watching Polar Express AGAIN…” he wrote. “(We do what we do to pass the time.)” Been there! Winter break can be long with the kids out of school, but we love that they are enjoying some quality time together.
The Watch What Happens Live host, who is also dad to Lucy, 19 months, opened up about his love of Christmas trees in an interview with Romper.
“I integrated a fake tree into my life, sometime during the run of Watch What Happens Live,” he explained. “We had a fake tree on the set and when we would break for the Christmas holidays, I would have my PA bring the tree to my apartment and set it up.”
He told his parents, “I said ‘Look, it’s not mine! I borrowed it!’” But then he eventually decided to just embrace it. “And then I was like, ‘Screw it. I’m buying a fake tree!’ It means nothing to me anyway, so it’s just festive.”
Cohen also talked about Ben’s love of Hanukkah. “[Ben] loves lighting the menorah. The other day he asked, ‘When does Hanukkah start?’ That he knows and looks forward to that is enough for me.”
Ben loves helping light the menorah, and watching Christmas movies and eating gingerbread houses — because why celebrate just one holiday when you could enjoy both?
