Like fellow celebrities Snoop Dogg and Seth Rogan, smoking weed is simply a way of life for Wiz Khalifa — so much so that he’s even high while attending his son’s school functions.
During Wednesday’s episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the “Roll Up” rapper chatted with show host Alex Cooper about how much cannabis is a part of his lifestyle and identity. When Cooper asked Khalifa if he shows up to 10-year-old Sebastian’s parent-teacher conferences high, he responded, “Hell yeah. I’m pulling up stoned. They expect it.”
The “Black & Yellow” rapper continued, “They know what’s up. It’s not like back in the day [where] you’re considered a bad parent if you smoke weed. I’m pretty sure my son smells like weed. I don’t know because I can’t smell it but I’m pretty sure he smells like pot.” While that’s one heck of a divisive statement to make, we admire Khalifa’s honesty!
The dad of one further explained that he would feel inauthentic if he didn’t show up to Sebastian’s functions after indulging in marijuana. “Yeah I’m pulling up stoned, I’m pulling up high because I want them to connect with the real me,” he told Cooper. “They’re not going to get a fake version of me or this made-up parent that society makes you think that you’re supposed to be. I am who I am, and it’s not because I’m a celebrity or anything,” Khalifa asserted.
We’re admittedly on the floor at his admission about not being able to tell if his son smells like weed — spoken like a true stoner — but we respect the “See You Again” rapper’s passion for showing up as his true self, regardless of the setting. Khalifa further explained, “It’s because it’s really what I believe in and why not get the real me? Why would I have to change who I am or act like I’m not that just for these places that I’m going to go? That’s not how I’m going to be living my life ever. Hell no,” he passionately concluded.
Khalifa, who shares Sebastian with his ex-wife Amber Rose, also touched on their co-parenting dynamic. He told Cooper, “It’s good. It’s fun. Well not fun, but like, I think I’m in a good situation with her as a co-parent.” The “No Sleep” rapper added, “Especially through time. Things have just eased up and become a lot more enjoyable and just regular of a process.”
During a recent appearance on Tamron Hall’s talk show, Rose shared her own opinion on her relationship with Khalifa. “I think that me and Wiz are so, best friends now, that — we’re so far past being in love that I can say that now, right? It’s not like anything that we would circle back to or anything. We’re just friends and co-parents,” the model said.
Those against cannabis will undoubtedly frown upon Khalifa’s uncensored use around his son, but if Sebastian is happy, healthy, and has parents who are actively involved in his life, we’re all for whatever works for their family.
