Dwyane Wade’s Daughter Kaavia Is the Ultimate Daddy’s Girl in Tear-Jerking New Video

She may be her mama’s twin (right down to her fashionista gene!), but Kaavia James is the ultimate Daddy’s girl. The 5-year-old posted a new video to Instagram, run by her parents Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade, and it’s such a sweet tribute to her relationship with her dad.

The video, which is appropriately set to “Daddy” by Beyoncé, is full of daddy-daughter moments throughout the years. In one, Wade and Kaavia wear matching white jackets as they play on the piano together. In another, Kaavia goes through her dad’s closet to pick out clothes for him. They go to basketball games together, go swimming, and have so many awesome dance parties!

“Looking up to someone is easy when it’s you! Happy Birthday Daddy!!! 🎈🎂🎉🥳 @dwyanewade,” the heart-melting video was captioned.

Union commented on the precious clip: “❤️❤️❤️.”

“This is one of the sweetest videos ever. Those two are inseparable. 😍😍😍” someone else wrote. One person commented, “This definitely made me cry!!! #girldad❤️

In an interview with Parentslast summer, the NBA champion said that if Kaavia grows up to choose a man to be her partner, “I want her to look at that man she chooses and say you have to measure up to my daddy. So, the bar will be set high.” He treats his daughter with respect so she won’t expect any less from her future partner, and we absolutely love that!

Wade also opened up about teaching Kaavia to celebrate her Blackness. “I make sure she knows that her skin, eyes, nose, and lips are beautiful,” he told the outlet. “Because if it doesn’t come from me, the man in her life, what can someone else tell her that she’s going to believe? I want her to believe what I know is true.”

“We are pushing positivity inside our kids every day because outside of these doors, they’re gonna get beat down and beat up,” he continued. “It’s our job to lift them. I pick up Kaav like Simba and walk around, saying, ‘Princess Kaavia,’ and get everybody to clap. I want her to feel like she’s a princess.”

Yup, it’s not hard to see why Kaavia loves her daddy so much!
