Chrissy Teigen Shares Son Miles’ Reaction to Vegetables & Her Honesty Is Refreshing

Thanks to carrots, my 6-year-old son has actually eaten vegetables in his life (there’s a pretty solid chance he’s eaten one cucumber slice at some point, too). But getting him to try healthy, nutrient-rich greens? It’s just not going to happen! This is embarrassing for me to admit — especially when my TikTok is filled with picky eater “hacks” that never actually work for us — but Chrissy Teigen isn’t scared. She is keeping it 100 percent real about her 5-year-old son Miles’ reaction to veggies, and I feel so seen!

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where her daughter Luna, 7, sat watching in the audience with her dad John Legend, the Cravings author opened up about her older kids’ eating habits.

“Luna is the best eater. Luna is amazing, she eats salads, vegetables,” Teigen says in the video. But Miles on the other hand?

“Miles has still not had a vegetable,” Teigen says. “He is six, almost. He accidentally ate a broccoli floret in a fried rice and was so upset about it.” The sigh of relief I just exhaled! If an actual chef can’t get their child to eat a vegetable, what hope is there for the rest of us? It’s so nice to know our kids aren’t the only picky eaters and many parents struggle with the same things we do.

Teigen’s Chrissy & Dave Dine Out co-star David Chang admitted that his kids don’t like vegetables either, which made host Jimmy Kimmel “feel so much better.”

“My daughter [Jane with wife Molly McNearney] is 9 and she will not eat, even barely, a fruit,” he says. “We can barely get her to eat anything. But then hearing that you guys can’t do that too, I don’t know why it makes me feel better.” It’s OK, it makes us feel so much better too! Probably because now we know we aren’t alone — and it’s nothing parents are doing that affects it; some kids are just picky eaters! I love how laidback Teigen is about it, too. In case you also needed to hear this today: There’s no need to stress about your kid’s vegetable intake!

“No, it’s a struggle!” Teigen agrees in the video. “I’ve gone on a Zoom call with the school before where they talked about picky eaters, and they say that it’s the only thing that they really have control over at that age.”

Kimmel interjects, “It’s so funny, they say that the kids don’t have control, and yet, they seem to have control over every aspect. Every minute of our lives!” Too true, too true.

Teigen’s daughter Luna also enjoys cooking, just like her mama. In a sweet March 2023 video, the former swimsuit model shared a video of Luna’s school project. “Luna had to write a how-to book in school! if this ain’t my daughter!!!” she captioned the post. The accompanying video shows Luna’s book, titled How to Make Ranch Dressing with step-by-step instructions (and hand-drawn illustrations!) to show just that.

Teigen and Legend are also parents to daughter Esti, 1, and son Wren, 7 months. Fingers crossed they will enjoy their fruits and veggies when they get older!
