Kieran Culkin Reveals He’s Going Into Full Diaper-Changing Mode After This Event Ends

Dads can feel parenting-related guilt, too — especially when they’ve been as booked and busy as Kieran Culkin. He opens up about his planned return to full-time dad mode after this one event is over, and we bet his wife Jazz Charton can hardly wait!

The Succession star has been everywhere this awards season, nabbing a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award, and an Emmy Award. All these events have taken a toll, though, and he is excited to return home to care for his kids Kinsey, 4, and Wilder, 2. “I’m really looking forward to it when I get home because the last couple weeks I haven’t really been much of a parent, which makes me feel like sh-t and makes me feel like I’m not me,” Culkin told The Hollywood Reporterat the Sundance Film Festival on Friday about his plans after the screening of his new film, A Real Pain.

“I’m going to turn the world off for about a week and just be a dad,” he continued. “‘Did you read the email?’ No, I did not. [I’m doing] nothing at all, except just diapers and bath time and stuff for like a week.” Culkin added that sending time with his kids at home is “where I feel like I’m most me.”

He’s so sweet! And we love how he is normalizing dads missing their kids as much as moms do. There’s no reason he should feel guilty during this hectic schedule (all working parents have more intense moments on the job!), but we love how he’s going to balance it out by focusing all his attention on his kiddos when he gets back home.

Maybe he’ll also spend some time working on making another baby? At the Emmy Awards earlier this month, he put his wife on public notice that he was ready for baby number 3. During his acceptance speech, he thanked his “beautiful wife for sharing your life with me and for giving me two amazing kids,” adding, “And Jazz, I want more. You said maybe, if I win!”

Later, he admitted that he probably should have just talked to her about it in private. He told reporters: “I’ve been asking for a while. Jazz said, ‘Maybe if you win the Emmy.’ I didn’t bring it up for months, and then when I won the Globe, I said, ‘Do you remember what you said?’ And she was like, ‘What? No. What did I say? I don’t remember this.’ So I told her, and then it all came back to her. So then she spent the whole week being nervous.”

“Instead of just talking to her in private like a human, I just blasted her on stage, which was very rude,” he continued. “And that’s it. That’s the whole story. Anyway, the end.”

He’s not shy about his love of dad life, and we love him all the more for it!
