When Rumer Willis’s daughter Louetta “Lou” Isley started eating solid foods at 6 months old, she skipped the baby oatmeal and applesauce and went straight to actual food! Willis revealed that she did baby-led weaning with her daughter in a sweet new post.
“We have been doing baby led weaning with Lou since she was 6 months old and it has been such a delight to watch her try and experience new foods,” the Sorority Row actress wrote on Instagram.
For the unfamiliar, baby-led weaning is a method of giving your baby foods they can grip and feed themselves as opposed to giving them fruit or veggie purees or spoon-feeding them. One 2012 study found that baby-led weaning can be a great, although it’s not always the best option for all infants at all times. The study authors stressed parents focus on: “responsive feeding, in particular, responding to infant hunger and satiety cues; being patient and encouraging the child to eat, but never forcing them; and experimenting with different food combinations, tastes, textures.”
Willis also opened up about one special product she has been using with her daughter, who is now 9 months old. “The first bites kit from @lalo has also been a lifesaver,” Willis praised. “Everything is super easy to clean and travel with and Lou loves the little tiny spoons that she has been using as teething toys too.”
The Lalo First Bites Full Kit was designed by parents! These non-toxic, BPA-free silicone products include a bowl with a suction base (so babies don’t toss it off their high-chair), a three-section plate with a suction base, two silicone spoons, a silicone cup with a straw, and two silicone bibs. These come in several different colors and are cute and functional!

Whether you go for baby-led weaning or not, this kit comes with everything your baby needs when they transition to solids.
Baby Lou enjoys her meals from a Lalo highchair. It comes with a hefty price tag — $259! — but it’s worth it if you’re looking for something that is comfortable and grows with baby, converting into booster seat when they get older. It’s designed to be easy-to-clean, with no annoying crevices that will collect food.
“I wanted to find a high chair that was sturdy and easy to clean and one that also fit in our space in a chic way and this one from @lalo was my favorite I found,” Willis wrote on Instagram about this highchair.

If you are pregnant or wanting to buy for a friend expecting a baby, Willis revealed several more product recommendations. “Lou is 9 months now which is mind blowing,” the Maya actress wrote. “I have had a few friends reach out to me recently who are about to have their first babies and asked me to share a few ideas for must have registry items to add to their lists here are my favs.”
People praised this post. One person wrote, “Motherhood looks amazing on you. The fact you have found so many wonderful products in just 9 months shows the love you have for your little princess.”
“Lalo is 👏👏!!” another person wrote.
