Chrissy Teigen Weighs in on a Controversial Parenting Debate & Her Response Is So Real

If you are looking for a celebrity mom to keep it real, Chrissy Teigen will come through. The Cravings author just shared her take on a hot button parenting topic, and she perfectly summed up how we feel.

The mom of four shared her opinion on the ever-debated topic: “Should you bring young kids to restaurants?” Good Morning America asked her this in an appearance on the show this morning, and her response made us bust out laughing.

Her Perfect Answer

When asked for her “advice” on going out to eat with kids in a clip of the show on Instagram, Teigen succinctly responded, “Yeah, don’t.” She laughed and added, “Just don’t.”

First of all, yes! Nothing she says could possibly make going out to eat with little terrors — er, young children — any better. Best case scenario, you’ll be able to wrangle your little one into a highchair. But you still have to do with knocking things over, screaming, ordering food they don’t want, and more unpleasant things that make the whole experience pretty miserable for everyone (including the other diners).

Some people (rightly!) argue that kids deserve to be out in public, and for those people, I see you! I am you! I have definitely brought my kids out to eat multiple times and would wholeheartedly agree that kids should be allowed in public places, like restaurants. However … that doesn’t make the actual act of taking them to dinner any easier! The only thing that has ever really helped is going with other people who can help keep the kids happy, entertained, and seated for a little while.

Actual Advice

Teigen’s Chrissy & Dave Dine Out co-star, who is also a parent, agreed with her. “That’s the best answer,” he said, adding that he prefers to take his kids Hugo, 4, and Gus, 2, with wife Grace, to “a loud restaurant that’s quite busy.”

When she does take her kids Luna, 7, Miles, 5, Esti, 1, and Wren, 7 months, who she shares with husband John Legend, out to dinner, they all act differently. Teigen said, “I have my one little mush, he’s seven months now, and he will fall asleep at a restaurant. Everyone comes over [and says] ‘Oh, he’s so good.’”

“And then I have my Esti, who’s a year old, and she just, you know, [touches] knives, glasses, everything, and it’s chaotic,” she continued. We feel seen! Teigen shared that her eldest kids just “look at our phones and text.” Nothing wrong with that!

Picky Eaters

Last week, Teigen dished on Luna’s and Miles’s very different eating habits. “Luna is the best eater. Luna is amazing, she eats salads, vegetables,” Teigen said in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “Miles has still not had a vegetable. He is six, almost. He accidentally ate a broccoli floret in a fried rice and was so upset about it.”

Between picky eating and knocking glasses over, it’s probably better to just get a babysitter and enjoy a nice dinner out without the kids!
