Heidi Klum Recalls the Mortifying Moment Daughter Leni Discovered Her ‘Sex Closet’: ‘Mom, What Is This? A Microphone?’

Most people tuck their condoms, sex toys, and lubricants in their nightstands, or inconspicuously beneath their socks and underwear in the back of a dresser drawer, but Heidi Klum isn’t most people. In fact, the supermodel’s stash of sensual products is so vast that she has an entire “sex closet” — which her daughter Leni once not only discovered, but excitedly rummaged through. With her friends.

During Wednesday’s episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the supermodel and show host Alex Cooper FaceTimed Leni to ask the college student to “give a quick roast” about her mom. While the 19-year-old was thinking, Heidi confessed, “She found my sex closet.”

The Lore of the Sex Closet

First of all, we’re reeling from the secondhand embarrassment, but more importantly, our jaws are on the floor over the America’s Got Talent judge having such a sizeable collection that she needs a whole closet to store it all! Not gonna lie though … we feel like we need a tour. Someone ping Vogue so they can get rolling on “73 Questions Inside Heidi Klum’s Sex Closet.”

Leni confirmed that she did indeed discover her mom’s trove of explicit supplies, hilariously recalling, “I did when I was younger and I thought it was the coolest thing ever.” The teen model continued, “I was going through it with my friends. And I was like, ‘Mom, what is this? A microphone?'”

Y’all — a microphone. We are screaming crying throwing up laughing!

Leni confessed, “I really had no idea what it was.” Ah, the innocence of youth. Sweet, sweet summer child. She added, “My mom got so mad at me after, like, ‘You can’t go in my stuff.'”

The NYU student continued, “I was like showing it off to my friends like, ‘Look at how cool this is. My mom has a whole cupboard, she has a whole drawer.’ And I snuck them into my mom’s room and opened the drawer, and we were all taking videos. We were like, ‘Oh my god!'” she recounted through bursts of laughter. Wait, videos exist of this romp through Klum’s Closet of Curiosities?!

Normality vs. Novelty

Leni also recalled being nervous to have her friends or boyfriend come over because of Heidi’s penchant for tanning topless in the backyard. “I remember having my girlfriends over and I’d be so embarrassed and scared,” the model said. She explained, “Usually in my friends‘ families, I never see their moms tanning naked at the pool, but I thought it was normal. My friends would always be kind of standoffish, but it was just so normal in our family.”

The former Project Runway judge shared that she enjoys being sans clothing so much because she was raised in an environment where nudity was normal and not exclusively sexual. “That’s how I was brought up,” the German native began. “My parents were running around nude in the house. We would go to FKK (an abbreviation for “freikörperkultur,” which translates to “free body culture”) beaches. We had a camper and we’d go to places where everyone is nude.” Heidi added, “I was at the beach, nude with my family, and no one thought it was strange or weird or told me any differently.”

Because nudity has always been normal in her life, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel didn’t see any reason to alter her lifestyle once she had kids running around the house. “I try to be like that with my kids — obviously when, you know, no one is there,” Heidi said. While her three teens who still live at home — sons Henry, 18, and Johan, 16, as well as daughter Lou, 13 — are used to seeing their mom au natural, they do ask her to cover up if they’re planning on having friends over.

Heidi shared, “They will come, like, ‘You know, my friend is coming over mom, put your top on.’ And I’m like, ‘When have I ever not had a top on when your friend was coming over? Of course I will.'” She added, “But they always make sure. ‘Mom, just a little warning what’s going to happen here.’ And I’m like, ‘Don’t worry.'” The mother of four added, “I also don’t want to flash anyone just to flash someone. I just don’t love tan lines.”

The Apple Falls Far From the Tree, In This Case

Unlike the supermodel in her early days, Heidi’s kids haven’t embraced nudity at home. “They’re not as open as I am,” she explained. “Strangely, you would think because I’ve kind of been like that their whole life, I would have thought they are very similar. Maybe later in life they will be like that,” she mused.

Awkward as it probably was to field questions from her child regarding her sex toys — still not over the microphone of it all — we’re not mad at Heidi for maintaining her nudist ways as a mother. Nudity is so often hyper-sexualized — look no further than the debate on breastfeeding in public. Because the supermodel is comfortable with both her nudity and sexuality, we wonder if her kids have grown up also feeling that the two are less taboo than society largely insists.

Obviously they’re not as gung-ho to waltz around in their birthday suits around others, but perhaps Heidi’s parenting approach will help them feel more confident and at ease when the time comes for them to embrace intimacy with those they choose. If the supermodel ever decides to give a TED Talk on the matter, we truly hope she’ll show up with a wand as her “microphone.”
