Prince William & Kate Middleton’s Children Did This Heartwarming Gesture for Their Mom as Soon as She Came Home

Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have taken it upon themselves to be Kate Middleton‘s little helpers as she continues to recover from abdominal surgery at Adelaide Cottage.

On Wednesday, an insider provided insight into the Princess of Wales’ ongoing recovery at home following her 13-day hospital stay. “Kate’s procedure went well and she’s still recovering,” the source told Us Weekly. They added that the princess had “seen all the children” once she returned to Windsor — Kate notably chose not to have George, Charlotte, or Louis visit her in the hospital.

The insider also revealed some sweet gestures the kids have made to help their mom feel better upon her homecoming. “They’ve all made her some ‘get well soon’ cards along with some of her favorite snacks,” the source shared. Talk about royal treatment!

The Wales children aren’t the only family members going the extra mile to support Kate during her recovery. Prince William has also canceled many of his engagements, clearing his calendar to monitor his wife and carry out extra childcare duties while she’s unable to take on her regular parenting load.

A Modern Family

Royal author Robert Hardman spoke to Us about the future monarch embracing his role as a husband and father in a much more modern way than that of his royal predecessors. “I mean, in years gone by, if a senior member of the family was ill, their spouse would not drop everything,” Hardman began.

“They’d carry on, and the children would be left with the nanny or nannies. And this time, Prince William has made a very conscious decision he’s going to step back from his duties,” the author continued. “He’s putting the family first, and he’s doing that for a very specific reason.”

Hardman explained, “Everything [William] does is about normalizing royal life [and] normalizing just trying to make everything as unobtrusive for the kids as possible so that being a sort of school-age royal is not something that’s scary.” He continued, “So if Mum’s in hospital, he knows he’s got to be there. Otherwise, it’s unsettling for the children if both parents are out of the house. He’s being a modern dad.”

Kate is expected to return to her royal duties sometime after Easter, so long as her recovery continues to go well. With William and the children waiting on her hand and foot, we’re sure we’ll be seeing the princess in public again soon — possibly even sooner than we may think.
