The best part of growing up? Having halftime shows catered to us! I remember watching the Super Bowl halftime performances as a kid, wondering who the bands were that my parents were singing along to. Now, the tables have turned, and I fully enjoyed singing along with Usher at the game last night. It doesn’t matter if you were going for the Chiefs or the 49ers (or you were just watching for shots of Taylor Swift’s reaction to her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s plays on the field) — everyone was cheering for the “Yeah” singer last night and his slew of guest artists, including Alicia Keys, Lil Jon, and Ludacris. Chrissy Teigen represented all millennial moms with her reaction to Usher in a new video, and I can definitely confirm the accuracy.
Halftime Fan
“I always love halftime. I never ever hate on halftime,” the Chrissy & Dave Dine Out star wrote on Instagram. “It’s such a big deal and the pressure is so insane, the timing is so bananas. It’s all just so much and I’m so proud of anyone who does this show. But man, when you know all the songs 😭😭😭.” It just hits different when you love the songs, right?
She added in the comments, “#millennialmomsforusher.”
In the video, Teigen is sitting on the (relatable) toy-covered floor of her living room, watching Usher on TV. She’s singing and swaying to the music — even rapping along — as her eldest daughter Luna, 7, sits on the couch in silence. It’s such a mood, and I love it.
She also shared a second video, this time holding her baby Wren, 7 months. Teigen holds her baby boy up, as he kicks his feet and dances, and she sings along, bringing all the energy of the club in 2004 to her home. Usher dancing on roller skates, taking his shirt off, and lighting up the football field? It was epic!
“All the millenials moms watching Usher 🔥❤️,” one person commented. Another wrote, “🔥Roller skates 🤯 and – the moment the shirt came off 🫣🥵.”
“Literally same. I hope my 9 month old appreciated it,” another quipped.
Here for the Food
The Cravings author shared another post explaining who she was rooting for in the Super Bowl. “Who am I going for?” she asked in a video on Instagram. “Me. And mashed potatoes. And chicken. Mac ‘n’ cheese. I’m here to eat, and I do not even care.” Honestly, she’s so real for that!
Teigen, who shares Luna, Wren, and kids Miles, 5, and Esti, 1, with husband John Legend, also shared several photos of her kids. Esti is smiling and eating an apple in one and kissing her baby brother in another. In one, Miles and Teigen give a pouty smile to the camera, while Miles holds his little brother in his arms. In another, Luna and Miles are painting in a box on the couch. It looks like such a fun family time.
Moms Love Usher
Chrissy wasn’t the only millennial mom enjoying the show. Gabrielle Union shared several photos and videos from the Super Bowl, writing on Instagram, “I’m here for Usher but I hope the 49ers win ☺️.”
Khloé Kardashian attended the game as well, along with sisters Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian. She shared several videos of Usher’s performance on her Instagram story, including several of her singing along.
Olivia Munn shared a video of herself in bed on her Instagram story last night, writing, “Like a good elder millennial/Gen Xer, my Super Bowl was in bed with a moisturizing face mask watching Usher on the iPad.”
