In a cheeky new interview with Good Morning America, Prince Harry opened up about his home life. Well …kind of. At least he was up front when he “couldn’t” reveal something. When asked what he’s like as a dad, he said, “I can’t tell you. That’s classified. It’s top secret!”
Jokes aside, the Duke of Sussex said his kids Prince Archie, 4 and Princess Lilibet, 2 — who he shares with wife Meghan Markle — are “doing great.”
“The kids are growing up like all kids do, very, very fast,” he said. “They’ve both got an incredible sense of humor and make us laugh and keep us grounded every single day, like most kids do.”
An incredible sense of humor that would have them agreeing their father’s parenting style is “classified?”

The interview — which took place at the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025’s One Year to Go celebrations — came just a day after the Sussexes made headlines for their choice to change their kids’ surname. The decision reportedly came around the time of King Charles III’s coronation and was revealed on the family’s official royal website.
Instead of carrying on the traditional royal last name of Mountbatten-Windsor, the two will use their parents’ title as their last name. Meaning they are Archibald “Archie” Harrison Sussex and Lilibet Diana Sussex.
“That’s a big deal for any family,” an insider said. “It represents their unification and it’s a proud moment.”
Using the title as the last name is similar to the way Harry was referred to as “Captain Wales” during his time in the army — when he was still the Prince of Wales — as opposed to Captain Mountbatten-Windsor.
All of this comes on the tail of controversy surrounding Princess Lilibet’s name. Last month, a “he said, she said” ensued after Robert Hardman alleged in his book The Making of a King: King Charles III and the Modern Monarchy that the late Queen Elizabeth II was enraged over the chosen moniker.
“One privately recalled that Elizabeth II had been ‘as angry as I’d ever seen her’ in 2021 after the Sussexes announced that she had given them her blessing to call their baby daughter ‘Lilibet,’ the Queen’s childhood nickname,” Hardman wrote.
According to an insider, the Sussexes said these claims are “not true,” that they “100% got permission” from the monarch (who has final say over baby names), and that this feels like “more of the same smear campaign.”
“[Harry and Meghan] feel it’s convenient [that] this is surfacing now when the queen is not here to defend herself and can’t say what is true or false,” the source continued. Hopefully the constant sea of speculation surrounding his family hasn’t made Harry dislike being a father. And based on his interview this morning, it certainly doesn’t sound like it.
“I’m just grateful to be a dad,” he told GMA with a grin on his face.
